Gomangalam police have arrested five persons on charges of theft. The police said that during a routine inspection they found five persons on a tractor with five HP motor, five HP compressor, switch box, water tanks in 1,000 litre and 500 litre capacity and 25 PVC pipes. During questioning, the police said Govindaraj, Subramanian, Sivasamy, Ganesan and Palanisamy could not furnish coherent answers for the questions they posed. During sustained interrogation, the police said they learnt that the five had stolen the items from poultries and farms in the region. The police arrested the five and recovered the aforementioned items, which they said were worth about Rs. 1 lakh. The police then presented the five before the Pollachi judicial magistrate, who remanded them in judicial custody.
