It was a memorable day for the 50 NCC Air Wing cadets of Petit Seminaire Higher Secondary School when Commodore U.N. Chitnavis, Deputy Director General NCC Directorate, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman Nicobar Directorate, paid a visit to Puducherry recently. He advised the cadets to make optimum use of the facilities provided by the Air Wing of the NCC, and asked them to take up adventure sports. The cadets took air sorties on microlight aircraft as part of their regular training.

A Jeevendiran of Standard XI A1 of Petit Seminaire School has won the gold medal in the 19th Junior Tug-of-War competition organised by the Tug-of-War Federation of India recently. School principal S. Antonisamy congratulated the student.

St. Patrick Matriculation Higher Secondary School organised a three-day exhibition of drawings, paintings and craft works of 200 students from Standard I to XII. Nature, animals, birds and flowers were some of the subjects that the children had chosen to paint. The exhibition was inaugurated by Gilbert Fernandez, Project Director, Pondicherry AIDS Control Society, in the presence of Ibert, President, Pondicherry State Artist's Society.

At Achariya Bala Siksha Mandir's Thengaithittu campus, two students G Deepak Raj and P. Preethy won laurels in competitions that were held recently. P. Preethy of Standard II C scored 4/5 points and came second in the State Chess Championship 2006 for Girls under seven at Institut Des Echecs. G. Deepak Raj has been awarded a silver medal in the International Greeting Card Competition held by Avantika, a group of contemporary artists and intellectuals, New Delhi.

Students of Standard IX and XI of St. Joseph of Cluny Higher Secondary School participated in a youth meet held at the Cluny Animation Centre, Puducherry, recently. Students from Standards VII to XII attended a personality development session on the school premises in Lawspet from 9.00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parents and teachers also participated in the session.

The Lions Club of Pondicherry and Jothi Eye Care Centre organised an eye camp for the students and staff of Alpha Matriculation Higher Secondary School recently.
