DINDIGUL: The Collector, R. Vasuki, advised officials in all departments to take immediate action against on petitions given by people at grievances day meetings.

No delay in clearing petitions would be allowed under any circumstances, she said while addressing the grievances day meeting at the Collecorate here on Monday.

Officials should also give proper reply to all petitions received from people and even rejection of petitions too should be given with proper reasons. Ms. Vasuki said several people had been coming to the Collectorate to take part in the grievance day meetings. Petitioners could avail themselves of medical facilities at the free medical cell set up at the Collectorate. Emergency cases could be treated at this centre, she said.

Petitions seeking old age pension, house pattas, drinking water facility, streetlights and financial assistance were given.

Petitioners, mostly women, thronged the Collectorate. The District Revenue Officer, Fernandez, the Project Officer, P. Ponniah, and other officials took part.
