Novel methods to preserve environment and following organic farming for sustainable development of people for saving biodiversity were discussed during the national symposium held here recently.
Organised by the Department of Zoology, Periyar University, the symposium ‘Impact of Climate Change on Biodiversity’ saw experts discussing measures to save biodiversity.
Speaking after inaugurating the symposium, Pamela Yvonne Scheffler, Assistant Professor at University of Hawaii, USA, insisted the need to balance human needs with environmental protection.
Muthuchelian, Vice-Chancellor of the university, focused on the various factors leading to global warming and sought cooperation from all sectors for preserving it.
Vanya Orr, who runs an NGO, stressed the role of the individuals and the youth to find a heart based thinking as a way forward to heal the separation of man and nature.
