Investiture meeting starts on Saturday
The Regional Grand Lodge of Southern India is holding its annual investiture meeting at Thiruvananthapuram for two days from February 12.
The meeting in this connection would take place at the community hall of the Sree Moolam Club. The Freemasons of the country, mainly from the six southern states and their spouses would be attending the meeting. The main highlight of the meeting would be the installation of R.Sushil Raj, as the 15th Regional Grand Master of Southern India. It is the first time someone from Kanyakumari district (Marthandam) is to be appointed to this high office. Raj is a member of Freemasons Lodge at Vivekananda Kendra at Kanyakumari. The Freemasons have been doing excellent charitable work. Their relief work for the tsunami affected villagers at the fisherman village of Pallam in Kanyakumari district was very noteworthy. More than Rs.1.2 crore were spent on rehabilitating the affected by assisting them to build 59 houses and a huge two-floor community centre. Mr. Raj was instrumental in carrying out the tsunami projects in Kanyakumari. The headquarters of the Regional Grand Lodge (unit of free masons) of Southern India is at Chennai and there are over 7500 Freemasons spread over 129 Lodges all over Southern India, who would be headed by Right Worshipful Brother Raj. . The Freemasons will donate a van to ‘Pallium India' and fund the Regional Cancer Centre for a pay ward room, costing Rs.10 lakh.
