TIRUCHI: Members of the Tamil Nadu Temple Tanks and Water Resources Protection Movement launched a survey at the Sundaradas tank at the Kasi Viswanathar temple in the city on Thursday.
This is one of the two tanks, the volunteers of the movement have planned to desilt by mobilising donation among themselves.
Led by M. Heldin Rajani, they ascertained the steps to be taken for the restoration of the tank to its original form.
The co-ordinator of the movement, T. Raja, said the desilting of the tank would help re-charge the ground water table in and around West Boulevard Road.
A volunteer, N.L. Raman, who inaugurated the survey, said that the movement would impress upon the officials on the need to desilt the water bodies for improving the ground water table.
The team, among others, included N. Muthukrishnan, Pon. Gunaseelan and N. Ramakrishnan.
