ERODE: A team of officials from the District Industries Centre (DIC) conducted surprise inspection in shops selling electrical goods at different parts of the town recently. Officials found a shop selling goods, which were not ISI certified, thus violating Quality Control Order 2003 of Government of India. The officials will register a case against the proprietor of the shop, a press release from DIC General Manager R. Ekambaram said. Violation of the quality control orders under Section 33 of BIS Act attracts fine up to Rs. 50,000 and/or imprisonment for one year.
