PUDUKOTTAI: Of the more than 2,000 persons in the district referred under Kalaignar Health Insurance Scheme for Life Saving Treatments, surgeries were performed on 1,813 persons at a cost of Rs.5 crore, said Collector A.Suganthi on Friday.

As many as 3.79 lakh families had been photographed in the district and biometric cards distributed to 3.54 lakh families.

Photographs were also taken for 1,011 families living in the Sri Lankan Tamil Refugee camps in the district and biometric cards issued to 996 families so far.

Ms. Suganthi said that all those who underwent surgeries under the Kalaignar Health Insurance Scheme for Life Saving Treatments were keeping good health.

They thanked the Government for providing free treatment up to Rs.one lakh under the scheme, the Collector said.
