: A Super Panamax Vessel of 14.66 m draught came to V.O. Chidambaranar Port on last Friday for the first time after the deepening of inner harbour.

Consequent to declaration of 12.80m draught at V.O. Chidambaranar Port on last November 19, the Port started receiving deeper draught vessels i.e. Panamax vessels of 12.80m draught. The vessels with more than 12.80 m draught are now anchored outside and lightered till it reaches 12.80 m. draught.

For first time in the history of the Port, it received a deep draught vessel of 14.66 m. Super Panamax vessel ‘MV New Lead Tomi', carrying 77,000 tonnes of industrial coal from Indonesia, meant for Ind-Barath Power Gencom Limited.
