Students of 4th to 8th standard at Pushpalatha School have been learning STEM (science, technology engineering and mathematics) from Chennai-based Dyna Learning Labs India.
Using the STEM concepts, being taught to them over a year, the students have created robots, which, like the well-built sumo wrestlers, forced their competitors out of a small and round table.
The event, Sumo-Bot competition, was unique and first of its kind for Tirunelveli.
Vociferously supported by their parents and friends, 14 teams from Pushpalata CBSE School and Pushpalata British International School fielded their robots fabricated just prior to the competition.
While ‘Mighty Robots’ team won the battle among the groups contested from Pushpalata British International School, team ‘Power Storm’ was the winner among teams from Pushpalata CBSE School.
R. Sundaram, Chief Techno Economic Officer of IIT Madras, the guest of honor, distributed prizes to the winners.
