A meeting to get the views of the public, peoples’ representatives and NGOs on the proposed bifurcation of Pennagaram and Morappur panchayat unions was held at the Collectorate on Tuesday.

A release from Collector R. Lilly said that Pennagaram MLA N. Nanappan, and local body representatives from Morappur and Pennagaram, representatives from political parties and NGOs and the public attended the meeting.

It was proposed to bifurcate Morappur as headquarters with 17 panchayats, Kadathur panchayat union with 26 panchayats, Pennagaram panchayat union with 19 panchayats and Eriyur panchayat union with 14 panchayats. People could submit their written objections and suggestions to the District Collector on or before March 20, the release added.
