CHENNAI: Officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on Wednesday arrested the Sub-Registrar of Kundrathur, M. Sridhar, on charge of taking bribe.

G. Senthilnathan of Sirukalathur had purchased a piece of land and the registration was done in the Kundrathur Sub-Registrar’s office on June 16.

Rs.20,000. After some negotiation, the official brought it down to Rs.15,000 and said he would not release the document if the bribe was not paid.

Mr. Senthilnathan lodged a complaint with the DVAC who registered a case. A special team laid a trap and arrested Sridhar soon after his mediator K. Veerabhadran received the money from the complainant. They were remanded to judicial custody.
