The Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Vellore, S. Sadasivam has urged the college students to develop skills in order to benefit from the abundant employment opportunities available to them today.

Delivering the College Day Address at the 114th College Day of Voorhees College here on Thursday, Dr. Sadasivam said that one could improve one’s standard of living only through education.

The students should acquire all the abilities and skills required for a successful life when they enter adulthood at the age of 19 or 20. If they miss the chance, they would not be able to acquire these abilities and skills later in life.

“You should develop your self-confidence by getting good education. Ask yourself whether you have received the right standard of education which you ought to have at the age of 18 or 19. This is the right age for you to decide your future career. You should select your goal and pursue it till you reach it,” he said.

The Joint Director appealed to the National Cadet Corps ‘C’ certificate holders to take up a career in the Army.

The NCC ‘C’ certificate holders can become Commissioned Officers in the Army, he said.

Dr. Sadasivam presented the Van Zanta Vord Prize for the Best Outgoing Student of Voorhees College to R. Prabhakaran of III B.A. Economics.
