National Eye Donation Fortnight celebrations on till September 8

MADURAI: School students, nursing assistants and para-medical staff participated in an eye donation awareness rally organised by District Blindness Control Society here on Wednesday to mark the 22nd National Eye Donation Fortnight celebrations between August 25 and September 8.

Pamphlets stating the significance of eye donation were distributed. Collector S.S. Jawahar flagged off the rally at Tamukkam which ended at the Collector’s Office. Government Rajaji Hospital Dean (in charge) S.M. Sivakumar, Deputy Director of Health Services and District Programme Manager of the Society, A. Palanichamy, Chief Educational Officer R. Pandurangan and GRH Resident Medical Officer R. Mathivanan took part.

More than 300 students from Jothi High School and Nehru Vidyasala participated.
