Tuticorin: The students and alumni of the Government Industrial Training Institute here staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate to press their multi-point charter.

They asked the authorities to appoint students graduated from the ITI to the post of `helpers' in Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.

"Though the Government Order was issued that ITI students alone should be appointed as helpers, there was no move to fill in the 23,000 vacancies across the State, so far," they pointed out.

They insisted to lift the freeze in the appointment to the post that is continuing for the last 20 years. About 50 people took part in the agitation.
