Mark International Day against Drug Abuse and Drug Trafficking
VELLORE: Three hundred NSS student volunteers took part in a rally organised on the International Day against Drug Abuse and Drug Trafficking on Mondayfrom Gandhi Statue to Ashram Girls High School.
Collector Dharmendra Pratap Yadav flagged off the rally, in which the students carried placards containing slogans against drug abuse, alcoholism and smoking.
In the evening, schoolchildren ( and the officials and inmates of Vellore Life Challenge, a centre for rehabilitation of drug addicts and alcoholics in Gandhinagar, participated in a rally organised by the centre to mark the day.
The rally was organised from Gandhi Statue to Fish Market.
Participating in a seminar organised jointly by the Field Publicity Office, Vellore, the office of the Deputy Director of Health Services, C.S.I. Ashram Children's Development Centre, and Drug De-Addiction Centre, Madhanur at Sarbanamedu here, the Collector cautioned the youths against drug abuse.
Rev. Y. William, Bishop, C.S.I. Vellore Diocese, presided. T. Sivakumar, Field Publicity Officer, Vellore, delivered the keynote address.
