Service organisations lend a helping hand in Pudukottai

PUDUKOTTAI: With the Transport Department launching a special initiative to provide driving licences to students at their colleges, various service organisations have come forward to lend a helping hand to the department. Rotary Club of Pudukottai and the Central Rotary Club, in association with the Transport Department, organised a special camp for issuing learner's licence to students of Government Arts College for Women, Pudukottai, at the college recently.

A team of officials, led by Regional Transport Officer A. Subramani, conducted the camp. About 250 students got learner's licence after presenting the required documents.

On road rules

Mr. Subramani utilised the opportunity to create an awareness among the students of road rules and the major reasons that led to road accidents. He said the department's initiative to issue learner's licence at colleges evoked a good response. He advised the students to apply for permanent licence as per norms.

The president of the Rotary Club of Pudukottai, S. Prithiviraj, presided over the function. Principal V. Jayalakshmi, secretary of Parent-Teachers Association V.K.S.M. Raja Mohammed, project coordinator S.P. Senthil, and president of Central Rotary Club J. Jay Parthiban spoke.
