Importance of overall development of school and college students explained

MADURAI: ‘Audacious-09’, the country’s first open award centre anniversary celebrations, was held at the Madurai Kamaraj University here on Wednesday.

Senior representatives of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Association and varsity officials participated in the event where students and heads of various schools were explained the importance of overall development of students, both in schools and colleges.

The Department of Management Studies, Madurai Kamaraj University, was chosen to conduct the event which was christened ‘The International Award for Young People - The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award’ in which students were felicitated.

It was organised in collaboration with Mahatma Group of Schools, Aurobindo Mira Group of educational institutions and the Rotary Club of Madurai North West.

Susan Walker, Regional Director (Asia Pacific), The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Association, along Delia Holahan, Executive Assistant of the association, addressed the students.

C. Chandran, general secretary, Madurai Open Award Centre and Professor, Department of Management Studies, Madurai Kamaraj University, S. Premalatha, Secretary and Correspondent, Mahatma Group of Schools and G. Dinesh of the university’s Department of Management Studies, were among those who spoke.
