Two-day ‘Media Mela’ begins at Russian Cultural Centre
CHENNAI: Visitors to the Russian Cultural Centre, Alwarpet, got a glimpse of the creative ability and aspirations of Loyola College students showcased in various mediums on Friday.
The two-day ‘Media Mela’, an event organised by the Department of Visual Communication of the College to exhibit the talent of the final year students was inaugurated at the centre.
While some of the students chose to convey their ideas through posters and photographs, others opted for documentary films and commercial advertisements. The students depicted interesting themes such as children’s dreams and their right to education through their works. Some of the eye-catching images included one of a boy selling snacks at the beach and his shadow reflecting his aspiration to study.
60 documentary films
About 60 documentary films and public service announcement films are to be screened during the programme. The films were centred on various themes, including mental disorders, public hygiene, global warming and glimpse into film artistes’ life.
A faculty member of Loyola College said the best projects chosen in various categories such as web based projects, documentary films and animation would be awarded prizes at the valedictory function on Saturday.
Speaking at the inaugural function, film director K.S.Ravi Kumar said concentration in their chosen fields was the key to success for the students. Media industry was one such field that demanded complete attention, he said.
Mr.Ravi Kumar also gave tips to the students on film making. Actor Jayachitra and Loyola College rector Amal Kulandaisamy spoke.
