Tuticorin: “I am keen on pursuing my higher studies in the stream of professional course as I have an insatiable desire for it,” said M. Bharathi Rajagopal, a student of Sri K.G.S. Higher Secondary School, Srivaikundam, after completing his higher secondary education.

The boy scored 919 out of 1200 marks during the exam held in March. He hails from a poor family and financial constraint should not be an impediment to stop him from studying further.

The parents are helpless and poor. The boy solely depends on the assistance from the government for his studies.

A petition was submitted to the Collector here on Monday, along with his family members, seeking free education and admission to the Government Engineering College.

“He was the first cadet from Tamil Nadu to get Central Defence Secretary Award along with a medal for his integrity and social activities in 2005,” his parents said.

“I have already applied for admission to engineering studies on May 27, 2009, the boy said.

“We are taking all steps necessary for his admission to government engineering college since the selection process of engineering courses will officially commence on June 20.”
