He was returning after watching football match at friend's house

BANGALORE: Armed men abducted an engineering student, Varun, in his car from Jeevanbimanagar Main Road in the early hours of Wednesday and robbed him of Rs. 1,800, a gold chain and a mobile phone.

Later, the robbers pushed Varun out of the vehicle near Benniganahalli flyover in Ramamurthynagar police station limits and sped away in his car estimated at Rs. 3.50 lakh.

The police said that after watching the FIFA World Cup Football match at a friend's house, Varun, a final year B.E. student of M.V.J. College of Engineering, was returning home in 2nd Stage, HAL. Around 1.30 a.m. on nearing the Jeevanbimanagar Main Road, Varun slowed down his car when he saw a lorry coming in the opposite direction. As he slowed down the vehicle, two men accosted Varun, snatched his car keys and punched him on the face.

After the two got into the car, two more joined them. All the four made Varun drive towards Benniganahalli flyover and robbed him of cash and other articles, the police said. On a complaint by Varun, the Ramamurthynagar police registered a case and transferred it to Jeevanbimanagar police.

Two men, riding a motorcycle, snatched a handbag containing two mobile phones and Rs. 800 in cash from a legal advisor of a leading IT company in Koramangala police station limits on Tuesday night.

The police said that around 9.30 p.m., the robbers snatched the bag from Vineetha Jacob while she was walking near her house on 16th B Main, 4th Block, Koramangala.

The Koramangala police have registered a case.

In a similar incident, two men, riding a motorcycle, snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 25,000 from a flower seller in Magadi Road police station limits on Tuesday night.

The police said that around 8.30 p.m. the criminals snatched the chain from Vanajakshi while she was selling flowers on 65th Cross, 6th Block, Rajajinagar.
