Medical camp for salesmen of fair price shops held

SALEM: To counter stress, the Salem district administration has decided to invite experts from Bangalore to conduct a workshop on stress management for the employees in various government departments here shortly.

Disclosing this, Collector J. Chandrakumar said that employees working in various offices could suffer from stress-related problems due to various reasons.

Hence to help them manage and overcome the syndrome, a workshop with experts from Bangalore-based ‘Sanjivini’ would be conducted this month in which techniques on stress management would be taught.

All employees should make use of this opportunity without fail, said Mr. Chandrakumar while inaugurating a medical camp for the salesmen of fair price shops of co-operative societies here on Sunday evening. He further added that salesmen should treat the public respectfully.

Nearly 900 salesmen would benefit from the camp, he said and added that it was the first of its kind in Tamil Nadu.

“I congratulate the Joint Registrar of co-operatives K. C. Ravichandran for this innovative idea,” he pointed out. Senior officials including Ponni Supermarket Special Officer P. Jogi and others took part in the event.

On Monday Collector also provided motorcycles to supervisors who had to distribute DOTS tables to TB affected at their door steps. Salem had six divisions for a population of five lakh from where the patients were being monitored.
