Collector asks GH authorities to provide facilities to patients

Collector Ashish Kumar chaired a consultative meeting with health care professionals of Government Medical College Hospital, Tuticorin on Wednesday. To identify needs and requirements of patients and fulfil those, officials from Corporation, Public Works Department, officials from Sterlite Copper and representatives of voluntary organisations put forth ideas for developing infrastructure.

Chairing a periodical meeting of Patients Welfare Society under the Chairmanship of District Collector, Mr. Kumar sought details of requirements.

Strengthening of security on the hospital premises was also discussed. He urged the professionals to equip the hospital with adequate facilities including drinking water.

The hospital is likely to get a new block for maternity care.

Mr. Kumar also made an assessment to house the facility, sources said.

The 500-bedded additional block, which is devoid of cots, is also expected to be provided with cots.
