Local fishermen rescued four fishermen stranded in mid-sea near Kanyakumari on Sunday.

According to sources, four fishermen – Maria Bebin (38) of Leon Nagar, Kurusappan (60), Alphonse (60) and Bhaskar (60) of Colachel port street ventured in to sea for fishing on Friday in a vallam fitted with an out-board engine. They were supposed to return on Saturday morning but as they failed to do so, the family members informed the marine police, the fisheries department and the local police. Local fishermen, who were in search of the four fishermen saw them just 70 nautical miles away from Kanyakumari.

Due to technical snag, the fishermen could not reach the shore. Finally all the four fishermen and their boats were rescued by their colleagues.
