Members of the Sivaji Samooha Nala Sanga Peravai in Tuticorin have sought the intervention of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to stop any attempt to evict statue of the veteran Tamil actor Sivaji Ganesan.

They staged demonstration near Tuticorin old corporation office here on WGC road on Wednesday in support of their demands.

A.P.C.V. Shanmugam, All India Congress Committee Member, who led the agitation, said the statue was installed as a mark of respect for the actor’s contributions to Tamil cinema and any move to evict the statue would certainly be a dishonour to the actor.
