AIADMK threatens to move court against Tirunelveli Corporation
TIRUNELVELI: Cadres of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam staged a demonstration in front of the railway junction here on Thursday in protest against the “ineffective administration of Tirunelveli Corporation and the insanitary condition prevailing in the areas under the local body”.
Addressing the protestors, former Speaker P.H. Pandian said even after the AIADMK councillors were repeatedly opposing the “anti-people policies” of the Corporation, the civic body was “adamantly going ahead” with its programmes. If the Corporation’s anti-people activities continued, the AIADMK would approach the court for legal remedy.
He came down heavily on the Corporation for not taking action against the councillor, “who sold each domestic drinking water connection at ward 17 for Rs.25,000”.
Former Mayor A. Jayarani, former MP S. Murugesan and AIADMK councillors of Tirunelveli Corporation participated in the agitation. A group of women cadres were holding empty pots.
