A resource centre for the differently abled will be set up at Saraswathi Nagar in Pachayankuppam panchayat near here.

The centre is being set up as an initiative of a non-governmental organisation, Leonard Cheshire International.

The foundation stone for the centre was laid recently in the presence of welfare officer for the differently abled T. Srinivasan, United Nations Habitat Technical adviser Pradeep Nandhi and municpal chairman T. Thangarasu.

According to K.R. Rajendran and Kameshwari Devi, organisers, the centre would provide comprehensive services to the differently abled such as dissemination of information on various schemes, physiotherapy facilities and establish links with micro-finance institutions to create employment opportunities.
