MADURAI: Cadres of Puthiya Tamilagam staged a demonstration in front of the Madurai Kamaraj University on Monday against the “discriminatory attitude” of the Tamil Nadu Government in filling posts in higher education.

The members, led by Madurai district secretary V. Chitrarasu, claimed that there were 24 universities in the State and, as per reservation quota applicable, four universities should have Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe candidates as Vice-Chancellors. But no Dalit had been appointed to the higher echelons of education department.
