To pay the tuition fee of her M.Tech. course

Tuticorin: M. Raymond Julie, a resident of Tharuvaikulam in Tuticorin, who passed Plus Two examinations with good marks received financial assistance from Sterlite Industries (India) Limited here on Wednesday for pursuing higher studies.

The beneficiary, who passed out the public examinations from Tharuvaikulam Government Higher Secondary School with a score of 1024 marks, has now joined the M.Tech. (Information and Communication Technology) at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli.

She received a cheque for Rs.20,000 towards tuition fee for the first semester from A. Sumathi, Associate General Manager, Health, Safety and Environment, Sterlite Industries, at a function held on its premises.

To pay fee of remaining years

She said that the company would pay the tuition fee for the remaining years of her studies also.

Jesutherese, mother of Julie, runs a roadside eatery at Tharuvaikulam and has been finding it difficult to manage her family of four children with her meagre income.

The company decided to sponsor the student based on her academic performance and economic condition. R. Rajasekarapandy, Head, Suganthi Chelladurai, Associate Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility and other employees were present.
