CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Monday announced Rs.1050 as state advisory price (SAP) per tonne of sugar cane with 9 per cent recovery.
Though the Centre has fixed Rs.811.80 as statutory minimum price (SMP) per tonne of sugarcane, the State government has come forward to give an additional amount of Rs.238.20, following requests from sugar cane farmers, a government release stated.
The announcement is with retrospective effect from October 1 and will be applicable to sugar cane already procured.
Besides Rs.1020 per tonne, an additional rate of Rs.9 per 0.1 per cent of excess recovery per tonne will also be given as incentive. — Special Correspondent
