ERODE: Self-help groups have been exempted from paying stamp duty while submitting documents to avail bank loans.

A release from the District Collector says to avoid the expenditure and delay the groups face in submitting the documents to banks, the State Government has decided to abolish the duty. To this effect the Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin made an announcement in the Assembly and accordingly the Commercial Tax and Registration Department had issued an order exempting SHGs and panchayat level federations from paying stamp duty on title deed, settlement deed and mortgage deed.

It asks the groups to make use of the exemption and not pay the duty.
