The Department of Posts will conduct an on the spot stamp design competition for school students in all postal divisions in Tiruchi district – Tiruchi, Lalgudi, Ariyalur and Jayamkondam, on November 18 to commemorate Children’s Day.
This year’s topic for the contest is ‘a holiday’ and it will be held in three categories – for students of class I to IV (group I), class V to VIII (group II) and class IX to XII (group III).
The prize winning entries at the national level stood a chance of designing the postage stamp, first day cover, miniature sheet. While the cash award for the first prize at the national level is Rs. 10,000 in each category, the second prize will carry cash award of Rs. 6,000 each and the third prize Rs. 4,000 each.
The participants have to make an original design on the subject. The design could be in ink, water, oil colour or any other medium, according to a press release of the Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Tiruchi division, issued here on Wednesday.
The competition in Tiruchi city will be held at the E. R. Higher Secondary School between 11 a.m. and noon. The venue of the competition at Ariyalur, Lalgudi and Jayamkondam will be informed later and interested students could contact the nearby post offices after November 12 for knowing the venue.
