Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) treasurer M.K. Stalin said that discipline was more important than duty and dignity for the youth wing cadre of the party.
Addressing an one-day training programme for the party’s youth wing cadre at Kazhugoorani near here on Saturday, he exhorted the cadre to familiarise themselves with the history of the party and the Dravidian movement. They should be in a position to share with their friends and relatives the rich historical background of the party, its struggles for social reforms and the roles played by its leaders, he said.
Mr. Stalin said that speeches on ‘Dravida Iyakka Varalaru’ (History of Dravidian Movement) by senior leaders Cumbum P. Selvendran and ‘Mozhipor Varalaru’ (History of Language Agitation) by Kovai Sezhiyan, talked about at the training programme, should create an interest among the cadre to know more about the party and its movement. While carrying out party work, the cadres should also concentrate on social work, he advised.
On Friday night, the faction-ridden district unit accorded separate receptions to Mr. Stalin — while district secretary and MLA Suba. Thangavelan welcomed Mr. Stalin with his supporters at Thellithatiallur near Paramakudi, J.K. Rithesh, MP, offered separate reception to the DMK leader at Sathirakudi near here.
The training programme was chaired by Mr. Thangavelan. District youth wing organiser Inba Ragu and his deputy Sampath Raja addressed the cadre.
