The wait is over. The riders are all eager to make an impression in the MAK-INRC ‘Rally of Coimbatore', which begins at the Kethanur windmill farms on Sunday.
Last year's top finishers such as Pramod Joshua, K.P. Aravind have all confirmed participation for the big event. So, it's going to be hot from the start and a rare treat for the spectators.
“Coimbatore is the heartland of the champions. So, it is right that we begin the season's opener from here. We want to make it a big-bang affair for the spectators,” said Annabelle Manwaring, Director, Pro-Sports Promotion.
She said with F-1 coming to New Delhi next year the fear is that the focus might shift from south to north.
“That may not happen as south has always been the heartland for Indian motor sports having produced champion racing and rallying drivers.”
IMG Sports and Pro-Sports Promotion are doing their best to make the INRC event popular across India.
The two-wheeler event has a title sponsor in MAK Lubricants from Bharath Petroleum for the second year in succession. And, IMG and PSP are committed to bringing more mileage to the bikers too.
“Without their continuous and emotional support we would not have gone this far,” said Ms. Annabelle.
“The two-wheeler INRC serves as a platform for young and enthusiastic bike riders to display their talent just like MAK's brand ambassador M.S. Dhoni. We want to make biking as popular as car rallies,” she added.
As said, the top riders in the country will go flat out to make the event a memorable one for racing enthusiasts in this motor sports town.
