Deadlock over non-payment of three months salary to the teachers of St. John’s College at Palayamkottai was resolved here on Thursday at a meeting chaired by Revenue Divisional Officer, Tirunelveli, A. Perumal. Representatives of teachers, those from the management represented by the principal and secretary were held amidst presence of police officers.
The MUTA representatives, who had also arrived, were requested to leave as the officials wanted to hold talks directly between the teachers and the management.
The meeting, in which several crucial issues figured, were finally reduced to the disbursal of salaries for August, September and October.
According to Prof. R. Peter Perinbaraj and other faculty members, the meeting discussed issues on the delay in appointment of secretary post by the office of the Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education, the case pending before the HC Bench in Madurai and among others.
