45,477 students wrote exams in the district

The results of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations held in the district this year will be declared at 9.15 a.m. on Friday. They will be displayed on school notice boards and posted on the internet.

A total of 45,477 students — 23,346 boys and 22,131 girls — wrote the SSLC exam.

According to Education Department officials, the results will be displayed in 438 schools in the educational districts of Madurai, Melur and Usilampatti, which have 183, 153 and 102 schools respectively.

Sealed covers containing the results of the students from all the 438 schools will be handed to representatives of 39 nodal points, identified by Chief Educational Officer C.Amuthavalli, early on Friday morning. Each representative will be responsible for reaching the results to 10 to 15 schools.

Representatives of individual school managements will have to collect the sealed covers containing the results from the nodal centres assigned to them and display them in their schools at 9.15 am when the results can be accessed from www.dge1.tn.nic.in, www.dge2.tn.nic.in or www.dge3.tn.nic.in

The examinations were conducted at 113 centres (53 in Madurai educational district, 35 in Melur and 25 in Usilampatti) in the Madurai revenue district between March 27 and April 12. Students had to write two papers in English and two in Language apart from Mathematics, Science and Social Science.

Around 500 students in the district were declared absent for the examinations this year, which the Education Department attributed to a technical snag in deleting the names of students who fell short of the required attendance in class.
