Children's rights should be protected and education should be guaranteed to them, said speakers at the inauguration of the three-day training programme for members of school management committees at Kundrandarkovil near here recently. They said that children should have access to health and hygiene, as part of their rights.

The training programme, organised by the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, aimed at sensitising the members of the school management committees to the importance of children's rights. R.Paulraj, Keeranur town panchayat president, Oyyappan Dhanam, Kundrandarkovil panchayat union chairman, and K.S.Rajendran, block supervisor, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, offered felicitations. A batch of resource-persons spoke on quality education, child-oriented play way methods, learning skills, and various laws governing children's rights.

About 350 members of various schools in Kundrandarkovil block participated . A question hour session was held at the end of every programme in which participants got their doubts clarified.
