Around 1,500 Sri Lankan refugees, including women and children, observed a dawn-to-dusk fast, on Thursday, before the refugees camp at Pudhupatti village near Batlagundu pressing the Central Government to support the US resolution against the Sri Lankan Government on war crimes.

They alleged that thousands of Tamils were killed, women were raped and children massacred by the Sri Lankan army during the war against LTTE.

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa should be answerable for the atrocities committed against the Tamils, they insisted.

Lawyers in Nilakottai boycotted court and observed a fast pressing for the same demands. Court activities came to a standstill owing to the strike.

Even as college students’ who were on indefinite fast for the past four days opposite Passport Seva Kendra here gave up their protest on Thursday evening, 13 budding advocates of the Government Law College here are continuing their agitation.
