Nagercoil: The Indian Government should mount pressure on Sri Lankan Government to stop military raids on Tamil areas and make it a prerequisite for talks to solve the ethnic conflict in the island nation, said the State vice-president of Bharathiya Jantha Party, H. Raja.

Addressing a public meeting on Friday at Nagercoil, he said that the Sri Lankan Government was playing a double game - while peace talks with Liberation Tiger of Tamil Eelam were initiated, the Tamil area were also subjected to raids and attacks.

He also criticised the Sri Lankan Government for increasing its annual budget, only to arm itself to carry out its onslaught against the Tamils. Moreover the Indian Government should hand over the proposed shipments of food and relief materials to any international relief agency instead of the Sri Lankan Government in order to ensure fair distribution, said H. Raja.
