A comprehensive spine care centre, which will cater to all spine-related problems, was inaugurated at Neuro Foundation, here, on Sunday.
Inaugurating the facility, B.A. Chandramouli, Professor and Head, Department of Neuro Surgery, Vikram Hospital, Bangalore, said that with people suffering from spinal injuries becoming common nowadays, there is a need for specialised spine care units, which is difficult in general hospitals. The standalone centre would have neuro and orthopaedic surgeons, neuro physicians, neuro physiatrists and neuro anaesthesiologists to provide collaborative service to the patients.
Dr. R. Vallinayagam, Dean, Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital, Thimmappa Hedge, Director, Division of Neuro Sciences, Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore, Sujatha Jayaraj, Salem Divisional Railway Manager, Dr. Rahul Mukerjee, Chief Medical Officer, Salem Steel Plant, and Dr. P. Sundararajan, Senior Consultant Neuro Surgeon, also spoke.
Earlier, Dr. R. Natarjan gave an insight into the functioning of the hospital and its facilities available, while Dr. Puneeth, Consultant Neuro Physician proposed a vote of thanks. K. Ravishankar, Executive Director of the hospital, doctors, staff members, and others were present.
