A special sub-inspector attached to Valivalam police station was arrested on graft charges in Nagapattinam on Tuesday. Pakkirisamy was arrested for demanding Rs. 5,000 to expedite the proceedings in a case concerning a rioting incident at Valivalam in 2011. The incident pertained to setting a police patrol bike ablaze in the rioting incident. In a trap laid by Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption sleuths here on the court campus, the SSI was caught red-handed while accepting Rs. 5,000 from the complainant, Suresh. Pakkirisamy was remanded in Tiruchi prison.
