A special polio immunisation camp would be conducted for children in migrant families in Vellore district in two phases on November 14 and December 12.

According to a release from C. Rajendran, Collector of Vellore, the children of migrants from other States and other districts in Tamil Nadu such as labourers, sellers of woollen swetters and blankets, sellers of dolls, construction workers, fishermen, narikoravas, nomads and other categories of migrants would be covered in the special camp. A total of 2,418 migrant families comprising 11,296 persons have been identified in an enumeration of migrant families carried out in Vellore district.

A total of 1,833 children below the age of five in these families would be immunised at the camp.

A total of 500 personnel and 50 supervisors would be pressed into service to conduct the camp which would be held in 86 centres comprising 72 in rural areas and 14 in urban areas.

The vehicles of the primary health centres would be utilised for the camp.
