Thrust on abolition of child labour

Dharmapuri: A special gram sabha meeting will be held in all the 251 village panchayats in the district on Monday. The meetings would focus on abolition of child labour and ensure 100 per cent enrolment and retention of children in schools.

A resolution to this effect would also be passed during the meeting in all village panchayats said, the Collector, M. Chandrasekaran, here on Sunday.

All panchayat presidents in the district had been instructed to take a survey on children out of school, and child labourers in respective panchayats and to enrol them in schools. Village panchayats that had successfully enrolled all children in schools would be declared as free from child labour.

Rally

Headmasters and teachers of the panchayats concerned would also take part in the gram sabha meetings.

Students of Government and private schools would undertake a rally highlighting the ill effects of child labour in Dharmapuri on June 14.
