Special camp for revised poll rolls

Collector S. Nagarajan inspected a special camp conducted at Nallur Government Higher Secondary School in connection with preparation of revised electoral rolls.

Speaking to presspersons after inspection on Sunday, he said that the State Election Commission had directed the district administration to organise special camps to make rectifications in the release of final electoral list, particularly addition of names of those who attained 18 years of age on October 1. Two more camps would be held on October 14 and 21.

The rectification of electoral rolls was conducted in 796 special camps in different parts of Kanyakumari district on Sunday. There are 1,525 polling booths in the district. The special camps were conducted at 126 centres in Kanyakumari, 143 centres in Nagercoil, 162 centres in Colachel, 152 centres in Padmanabhapuram, 92 centres in Vilavancode, and 94 centres in Killiyur Assembly segments.

The district administration had appointed 37 regional officers and 4 deputy tahsildars for the successful conduct of the special camps.

The Collector has appealed to the voters and eligible candidates to make use of these special camps.
