A large number of devotees offered worship to Lord Nataraja at Saivite temples on the occasion of Arudhra Darshanam festival on Wednesday.

At Sri Akilandeswari-Jambukeswarar temple, special puja was performed. The idols of Lord Nataraja and Sri Ambal were taken in a procession around the fourth prakaam of the temple, before being brought to the “'mandapam” where the devotees offered worship in the day.

Special arrangements were made at Sri Saptarishi temple in Lalgudi. Police had made tight security arrangements on the occasion.

THANJAVUR: Arudra darisanam was held at Big Temple here on Wednesday. Special abishekams and alankarams were done to Lord Nataraja on Tuesday night prior to the darisanam . On Wednesday, Lord Nataraja was taken in procession on the four main streets.

KARUR: Special early morning abishekam and pujas formed part of the arudra darisanam festival celebrated in all the major Shiva temples in Karur on Wednesday.

Early morning abishekams and pujas were performed to Lord Nataraja and Goddess Sivakami Ambal following which the maha deeparathanai was performed. In the evening the Oodal Utsavam got under way before the deities entered the Chit Sabhai.

Hundreds of devotees witnessed the celestial event at Sri Kalyana Pasupatheeswarar temple and Sri Vanjuleeswarar temples in Karur town, Sri Kalyana Vigirtheeswarar temple at Venjamangudalur, Sri Meikandeswarar temple at Aravakurichi, and Sri Kadambavaneswarar temple at Kulithalai among other shrines.
