THANJAVUR: Special archanas will be performed to Sani Bhagawan at Sri Vasishteswaraswamy Temple at Thittai near here on August 4 and 5 in view of ‘Sani Peyarchi’ festival, according to a press release issued here by T.Govindaraju, Executive Officer of the temple.
At Thittai, Guru Bhagawan has a separate temple and is known as Guru Parihara sthalam. (Main Navagraha kshetra for Guru is Alankudi in Tiruvarur district. But Thittai Guru Bhagawan is also famous).
‘Sani Peyarchi’ occurs at 12.19 p.m. on August 8 when Sani Bhagawan moves from Kadaga rasi to Simma rasi. ‘Sani Peyarchi’ occurs once in two-and-a-half years. It is said that Sani Bhagawan worshipped Guru Bhagawan and Sri Vasishteswaraswamy at Thittai.
Those who want to take part in special archanas can do so by paying Rs. 50. Special archanas will be performed to Sani Bhagawan from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the two days.
Special Parihara homam will be performed from 7 a.m. to noon on August 8. Those who want to participate in the homam can do so by paying Rs. 250. Those who are not able to come in person can send the fee by Money Order or Demand Draft. They should send details of their name, rasi, lagnam and star with address along with the MO or DD to the Executive Officer, Sri Vasishteswaraswamy Temple, Thittai, Thanjavur - 613 003.
This ‘Sani Peyarchi’ is good for those who are born in Mithunam, Meenam, Thulam, Dhnanusu rasis. Those who have to do ‘parihara’ are those who are born in Rishapam, Kadagam, Simmam, Kanni, Viruchigam, Maharam and Kumba rasis.
