Villagers from Vadakaraiyathur Panchayat in Paramathi-Velur Taluk petitioned the Collector on Monday seeking a solution to the stray dog menace in Jaderpalayam village. The petitioners claimed that the increasing number of stray dogs made daily life difficult for the villagers as they bit children and other road users.

Petitioner V. Varadharajan alleged that the dogs also caused road accidents as they chased motorists, who fell down and sustained injuries. He claimed that the villagers already made a representation onthe issue to the officials concerned but they have not taken any steps so far on this alarming issue.

The villagers also submitted a petition opposing the proposed shifting of a TASMAC outlet to the residential locality.

A total of 463 petitions were received in the grievances meet.
