NAMAKKAL: The Namakkal District Police has installed 40 solar-powered flickering lights in the median of Paramathi Road.

The lights each costing Rs. 2,800 were installed on a pilot basis for a stretch of 600 metres on the road. Namakkal was the second town in the state to have these lights after the Madurai city.

The lights will get automatically charged during the day. The district police will install similar lights in important junctions and accident-prone zones in the town. The Superintendent of the Police, C. Krishnapillai inaugurated the functioning of the lights here on Friday night.
