SALEM: The Regional Sericulture Research Station (RSRS) established a soil science laboratory with soil testing facilities. The Commissioner of Department of Sericulture (DOS) Harmander Singh inaugurated the laboratory. According to a press release, the laboratory was established under the Integrated Nutrition Management and Integrated Pest Management (INM-IPM) project.

At the inaugural, the Commissioner highlighted the importance of soil testing and improving soil health. Initially, the services of the laboratory would be extended to farmers under the INM-IPM project. The service would be extended to other farmers in due course.

Interactive session

An interactive session for the farmers was also held. The former vice-chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agriculture University S. Jayaraj; the Joint Director (Headquarters) of DOS G. Rajappa; the Joint Director of RSRS S.M.H. Qadri; and the Assistant Director of Sericulture in Salem S. Gopalsamy spoke.
