Film runs into row

A film that dwells on the renaissance movement in Kerala, freedom struggle and portrays the late veteran Communist leader P.Krishna Pillai, `Vasanthathinte Kanalvazhikal’ is in the eye of a storm. An organisation affiliated to the Congress has filed a complaint against the film saying it would help the Left Democratic Front (LDF) to gain ground among the voters.

Though the Election Commission has not passed a verdict on the complaint, director Anil V. Nagendran has sprung into action saying that the charge was baseless.

He also announced here on Friday that screening of the film would be suspended till the completion of the polling process in the State. Why should the director suspend the screening when the EC has not passed any such orders? Mr. Nagendran said he doesn’t want to court a controversy during election time.
